A Gentlemen's Wardrobe – before the wardrobes were installed: an example of Richard's whimsy, now even particularly poignant

Saying Thank You to Richard

For over 30 years Richard supported, encouraged and inspired me. He was not Falco, but his mischievous, inventive, sardonic, devoted character is certainly in Falco. People who knew us recognised our happy relationship in the strong love and daily banter of Vespasian and Caenis in 'The Course of Honour' and of Falco and Helena.

Richard suffered from kidney cancer, one of the most difficult kinds. He had exceptional new kinds of treatment at the great London hospitals of Guy's, King's College and St Thomas. Innovative surgery gave him three wonderful extra years of life and his case will help other people who have this cruel disease. I want to support this branch of medical science.

You can donate online to Cancer Research UK, the registered charity that has always received royalties from 'Shadows in Bronze' in memory of my friend Margaret. In the twenty years since Margaret died, there have been huge improvements in the treatment of breast cancer so I have asked that donations in my name should now be ear-marked for kidney cancer. UK taxpayers can increase the amount through Giftaid. I am suggesting very modest amounts but of course please give more if you feel you can.

Make your donation via: http://www.justgiving.com/lindseydavis1

Then email me to say you have done it, choose your book from the list below, give me your postal address (I will pay p&p) and your dedicatee, if not yourself.

For a suggested minimum donation of £10 each choose from:

Original US Hardbacks of:  One Virgin Too Many, Ode to a BankerThe Jupiter Myth, and The Accusers – thanks to readers’ generosity these are down to the last few, so hurry!

Or: UK omnibus edition 'Falco on the Loose' (which contains novels 6,7 and 8)

Or: Choose a large format paperback from the above US Falco titles (also Scandal Takes a Holiday, Three Hands in the Fountain, Two for the Lions, and A Body in the Bath House where the hardbacks have all gone), to which I will add a pot-luck small paperback.

First come, first served.
